requests. The CDM software supports the diversion of
both preloads and stock transfers to sales orders with the
material in transit to support changing customer needs.
Loading solutions
Business processes often build over time at a location.
The cement vendor works with customers and carriers at
a local level, and expectations are built gradually. For the
enterprise, the local loading practices need to present
uniformly to the ERP system. Marketing and branding
may also need to enforce a customer experience from
an enterprise perspective. CDM supports a wide variety
of loading solutions tailored to supporting the local or
enterprise requirements. Loading Solutions with CDM can
be broadly categorised:

Simple Attended Loading
– an operator uses or
creates shipment details. Using a locally created
process control system, the operator loads the truck.
Typically this is a simple interface with basic electrical
and mechanical interlocks. CDM incorporates an
interface to the scale head that provides ‘legal for
trade’ recordings for the shipment transaction and
Bill of Lading (BOL). Signature Capture allows the
BOL to be captured electronically for the enterprise
while printed copies are created for the driver.
By using the common ERP interface and local
integration, some basic safeguards are put in place. The
ERP maintains ‘master’ data related to customers and
credit terms, reducing transcription errors and incorrect
shipments. The trailers and rigs commonly used at the
site have their details stored. The site defines a ‘Tare
tolerance’, the maximum deviation from the known
vehicle tare allowed before being warned about possible
retained product in the truck. Managing rig details also
provides site control when seasonal weight restrictions are
in place or overweight permits are available.

Attended Automated Loading
– Process Solutions has
a long history and experience working with existing
site equipment to automate the loading process. In
this type of solution the local process is used with an
