the set point and dynamic motion characteristics of
the feeder, the necessary speed at the dosing point
is calculated and adjusted at the prospective point
before dosing. “The result is a constant and stable
feeding over the short and long term,” explains
Hassan Jradi. The follow-up pneumatic transport
of the petcoke and coal dust to the burner is an
essential part of the feeding system. The rotor
weighfeeder Pfister
®
DRW is directly connected to
a blower. Clean transport air is blown through the
feeder and transports the fuel to the burner.
Secondly, the speed of the rotor itself is an
important factor. While other feeders swirl at a
rate of several hundreds and more rounds per
minute, wearing out bearings, housings and
consuming loads of energy, the rotor of the
Pfister
®
rotor weighfeeders turns with only
4 – 10 rounds per minute. Combined with its
well-designed and integrated low pressure
pneumatic transport, the rotor is able to convey
the required amount of pulverised material
into the burning area keeping wear and energy
consumption at a minimum.
“Here at J.K. Fujairah Cement we switch from
production of white cement to grey cement
and back according to market demand,” says
Rajesh Khanna. So it was of major priority to
find a dosing system which is able to handle the
different fuels without technical adjustments.
In the case of the rotor weighfeeders Pfister
®
DRW the systems are able to handle a variety
of pulverised fuels. Their prospective control

performs online calibration according
to the set data and actual load. So the system
literally ‘adapts’ itself to the specific bulk good
inside.
“The overall capacity of our dual process
plant is at 1750 tpd for White Cement and
2800 tpd grey cement respectively,” adds
Rajesh Khanna.
Installation process and commissioning
The combination of TEC and Promac
represented by the joint venture company
Taihheiyo Promac Engineering Private Limited
made it possible to install a one of its kind
Dual Process White and Grey Clinker Cement
Plant for J.K. Cement in UAE on an EPC
basis. Based on this cooperation, TEC with
the manufacturing expertise and project
execution capabilities of Promac chose to go
for the installation of two rotor weighfeeders
type DRW 4.10 from FLSmidth Pfister.
Commissioning by an FLSmidth Pfister service
engineer together with the responsible site
personnel started in December 2013. The
proper mechanical and electrical erection and
performing of a successful material test were
finalised in January 2014.
Conclusion
Since the start of the production by the end of 2014
the processes at J.K. Fujairah are running smoothly.

functional devices suitable for dosing the variable
fuels needed for production of white and grey
cement with the same machines. By looking for the
perfect dosing device, switching between different
fuels with different flow characteristics was an
important issue. With Pfister

rotor weighfeeders
this is possible without production stop or machine
alterations.
