AFRICA AND THE MIDDLE EAST

Gabon

Libreville, Ciments De L’Afrique

Cemengal supplied one Plug&Grind XTREME

unit with a production capacity of 350 000 tpy to

the Libreville plant and a ball mill Ø 3.2 x 11.5 m

and 1600 kW, as well as a XP4i separator for

the production of high Blaine cements for special

cement applications. The scope of supply included

equipment for raw material transport from the

client’s storage halls, two steel storage silos as well

as interconnection to existing dispatching facilities.

Ghana

SEG group

Fives has supplied one PILLARD HEATGEN Hot

gases generator for SEG group’s cement grinding

mill.

Guinea

Guinea Alumina Corporation

At the beginning of 2019, Bedeschi was

awarded a bauxite storage facility for

Guinea Alumina Corporation, part of Emirates

Global Aluminium in ABU DABHI, by DTP Mining.

The plant is located in Kamsar (North of Guinea,

Boke Region), and the scope of supply includes a

stacker with a capacity of 3000 tph and a 420 m

long storage belt conveyor.

The stacker can handle bauxite both in dry and

wet conditions, when the material becomes sticky

due to the humidity. The material is stored in two

stockpiles of 160 t each with the chevron method.

The machine has a capacity of 3000 tph, a 42 m

long boom, and a length of 1400 mm.

Sonfonia, LafargeHolcim

A Gebr. Pfeiffer mill has been supplied for

the grinding of cement in Guinea. It is a size

MVR 2500 C-4 mill, which was set up at

LafargeHolcim’s Sonfonia plant in the port city of

Conakry.

Featuring a total drive power of 1300 kW, the mill

has been designed to grind 75 tph of CEM IV 32.5

and 69 tph of CEM IV 42.5 down to a specific

surface of 3440 cm²/g and 3340 cm²/g acc. to

Blaine, respectively.

Despite the relatively small grinding table

diameter of 2.5 m (compared to Gebr. Pfeiffer’s

largest sold mills to date with a diameter of 6.7 m),

the mill offers active redundancy. This means that in

the unlikely event of a grinding roller failing, the mill

can continue to be operated at a throughput rate of

50 – 60%. Only the roller opposite the roller that

failed must additionally be swung out – the other

two rollers remain in operation.

The order for the mill was placed by the Chinese

general contractor CBMI.

Iraq

Lucky Cement Samawah, Tianjin Cement Industry

Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd.

Fives will supply a complete combustion system

including Pillard NOVAFLAM kiln burner, Pillard

PRECAFLAM calciner burners and relevant heavy

oil valve skids, heaters and pumping units.

Israel

Ashdod Seaport Terminal, Hanson (Israel) Ltd.

Hanson (Israel) Ltd. awarded IBAU Hamburg with

a contract for the delivery of silo equipment for four

new cement silos as well as for the supervision of

the mechanical erection.

Continuing its partnership with Ashdod Port,

Bedeschi has signed a new contract with the EPC

contractor Lesico for the supply of two conveyors

with Vackem technology. In the last few years,

Bedeschi has supplied various equipment to the

port such as an eco-hopper for clinker and two

eco-hoppers for grain material.

Ramla plant, Nesher Israel Cement

As the existing kiln burner was not equipped to fire

solid secondary fuel, Unitherm Cemcon delivered

one satellite burner to be installed on a separate

trolley. The scope of supply included the satellite

burner, a new trolley, a new cooling air fan and

flexible connections for the burner.

Kenya

Vipingo, Mombasa Cement

Mombasa Cement already operates two cement

mills from Gebr. Pfeiffer. In January 2016, the

customer signed a contract for a vertical mill of the

type MVR 3750 C-4 for the Tororo plant in Uganda.

In June of the same year, this customer decided on

a ready2grind with an MVR 1800 C-4. The system

was set up and put into service in Vipingo, Kenya,

within a very short period of time.

Mombasa Cement is currently building its second

kiln line at the Vipingo, Kenya, site. They again

decided on Gebr. Pfeiffer for this line and have also

ordered an MVR 3750 C-4 for the production of

cement.

The mill has a drive power of 2900 kW to

produce 150 tph of OPC. Delivery will take place

in the context of close cooperation between the

customer, the Indian branch of Gebr. Pfeiffer, and

the headquarters in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The

design being identical to that of the mill in Uganda

provides numerous advantages for the customer
