South Africa

NPC Simuma, Intercement

NPC Simuma is the main clinker making plant in

South Africa supplying two other grinding facilities

in the coastal region around Durban. Made up of

two production lines, it has been equipped with

Standard Industrie AIRCHOC technology for a long

time, with 26 and 23 units respectively.

At the end of 2018, NPC Simuma decided to

make a new investment in AIRCHOC by purchasing

an extra 28 units DN150/100L to further equip its

production lines for the pre-calciner, the riser, the kiln

inlet and to keep stock of these units for future use.

Based on Standard Industrie recommendations,

23 units were successfully installed at the beginning

of 2019 with the objective of having these sections of

the lines free of build-ups.

Togo

Cement plant, Dangote

Dangote has signed a deal to build a cement factory

at a cost of around US$60 million, with production

originally scheduled to start by the end of the year.

Cimco Lomé plant, CIMCO

African cement giant CIMCO, part of the CIM

Metal Group, has chosen the MVR 6000 C-6 from

Gebr. Pfeiffer for its grinding plant in Lomé, Togo.

The grinding plant is built by the company Intercem

from Germany. Gebr. Pfeiffer is supplying the

mill and process design, while Intercem is then

incorporating it into the complete system, and

leading the execution.

The MVR 6000 C-6 will be used for grinding

cements of all qualities from CEM-I to CEM-IV.

The mill has a drive power of 6400 kW to

produce CEM I at 370 tph with a Blaine fineness

of 3800 cm²/g. The plant is scheduled to begin

production in Q1/2021.

The scope of supply comprises engineering,

documentation, supervision and commissioning, a

raw material truck unloading station, and two clinker

silos for 50 000 t each, as well as an additive shed

for 20 000 t, a grinding plant with Vertical Roller Mill

for 360 tph or 2.5 million tpy, and a raw material

truck loading station of 700 tph, amongst other

equipment.

Cimtogo, Heidelberg Cement AG

thyssenkrupp was awarded a contract for Cimtogo’s

Brownfield project, comprising of a 120 tph cement

grinding and packing system based on (CCBM)

closed circuit ball mill technology. The contract is

on an EP basis and involves complete engineering

and supply relating to mechanical, electrical, and

instrumentation equipment along with plant utilities.
