Kuwait
Cement Grinding Station, Acico Cement
Cemengal has been awarded with a new contract
for the supply of a second cement grinding station to
ACICO Cement, consisting of a complete cement
mill workshop. The main pieces of equipment to be
included within this new contract are a 5200 kW
ball mill fully engineered by Cemengal with all
the peripheral equipment and a fourth generation
Magotteaux XP4i-130 classifier for high quality
cements.
The projected grinding capacity will be 1 million tpy
of cement and the plant was scheduled to be
commissioned in the first half of 2020. The scope
of the project will include full engineering and
complete supply of mechanical, process, electrical
and automation equipment as well as the steel
manufacturing from the raw materials handling areas
up to the silos cement discharge.
In addition to the technology delivery, the site
supervision, training and commissioning activities
will be fully provided by Cemengal at the plant’s site.
This is the second project awarded by ACICO to
Cemengal.
Kuwait Cement Company (KCC)
Most of Kuwait Cement Company’s (KCC)
cement mills were running in open circuits,
i.e. without a separator. To improve its cement
quality, KCC decided to close the circuits and
selected Magotteaux for its experience and
know-how as well as installation support and
optimisation advice.
Three Magotteaux XP4
i110 high efficiency
separators were installed, allowing the percentage
of residue on the 45 µm sieve to be reduced. The
challenges to overcome were tremendous since
there were numerous existing building limitations,
limited available space as well as ongoing production
typical for a brownfield project.
The three XP4
i separators were pre-assembled on
the ground while maintaining cement production. The
mechanical installation was done in record time with
minimum mill downtimes of only seven days per mill.
Moreover, pre-assembly allowed for increased safety
during installation.
