AFRICA AND THE MIDDLE EAST

Heidelberg Cement Lomé, Heidelberg Group

Boldrocchi India recently received a contract from

thyssenkrupp India to design, manufacture and

supply 27 de-dusting nuisance bag filters with

capacity ranging from 2500 – 22 000 m

Turkey

Batisöke Söke Çimento Sanayii TAS

Bedeschi has constructed for Batisöke Söke

Cimento Sanayii T.A.S. a pipe conveyor with the

following main characteristics:

f

Material: crushed limestone.

f

Flow rate:1200 tph.

f

Conveyor length: 1180 m approx.

f

Conveyor lift (drop): -135 m approx.

f

Pipe diameter: 400 mm.

f

Belt width: 1600 mm.

f

Belt speed: 315 m/s.

f

Installed power: 400 kW.

Buyukcekmece plant, Akcansa

FCT Combustion undertook a burner upgrade for

two kilns at the Buyukcekmece plant in early 2020 to

improve combustion and emissions control.

Cimento Bastas, VICAT Turkey

To increase the substitution rate of solid secondary

fuel through the main burner, Unitherm supplied a

new rotary kiln burner to the Bastas plant in Turkey.

The M.A.S./7/KO.SO.X with 89 MW is designed

for the combined firing of coal, fuel oil and solid

secondary fuel. Additional scope of supply includes

a new natural gas lance for startup, engineering for a

new burner trolley and spare parts.

SEZA Cimento, Elazig, SEZA Cimento

Bricking Solutions supplied the SEZA Cimento plant

with an Ez Flexx50 Bricking Machine with a 4.3 m

(14 ft), 4000 kg, (8800 lb) work platform, designed

for a 4.8 m kiln with 220 mm brick.

Sonmez Cement plant , Sonmez Cement and

Mining Construction Industry Trade Inc.

CTP Team Italy signed a turnkey EPC contract

for Waste Heat Recovery with Sonmez Cimento

Yapi ve Madencilik in March 2019. The project

involves the supply of a WHR system with dual-loop

configuration; the heat will be recovered from two

sources available in Sonmez Cement plant – the kiln

pre-heater and the clinker cooler.

Two different heat exchangers fed with thermal

oil are designed accordingly for the specific

temperature and inlet gas flow to break down the

temperature of the exhaust gas coming from the

clinker production process. In the WHR module,

a highly efficient turbine of 7.8 MW at 3000 rpm

is coupled with a Turbo Generator of 9.2 MVA

to produce electricity to support the internal

consumptions of the cement plant. The new ORC

will provide an expected net power generation of 51

million of kWh per year, covering approximately 30%

of the current plant’s electricity needs.

Uganda

Hima Cement Limited, LafargeHolcim

Bricking solutions has provided four conveyor

units to Hima Cement Limited. The units are 12 in.

wide by 250 in. long hydraulic conveyors used to

transport refractory and materials in and out of the

kiln, with a 907 kg capacity at 45 m per minute. The

system is designed with heavy-duty aluminium for

sections that are as light as 16 kg (35 lb), which

allows for easy handling. This, paired with the

conveyor’s modular design, ensures transport and

setup is fast and easy.

United Arab Emirates

JSW UAE, Sinoma Tianjin/JSW UAE

Fives has supplied a PILLARD NOVAFLAM KILN

burner for the JSW UAE plant.

Sharjah plant, Sharjah Cement

In 2009 Unitherm delivered four M.A.S. rotary

kiln burners (two in operation, two spare) for coal

and natural gas via Christian Pfeiffer to Sharjah

Cement. To fire solid secondary fuel in their kilns,

Sharjah Cement ordered the complete dosing

and feeding system for SSF together with burners

and auxiliaries with Christian Pfeiffer in Malaysia.

Unitherm Cemcon delivered two satellite burners as

well as engineering for a burner trolley for satellite

and main burner.

Umm Al Quwain RDF plant, Emirates RDF Company

BMH Technology is supplying the technology for the

first Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) plant in the Emirate

of Umm Al Quwain. Based on a vision of integrated

waste management, this plant will convert the waste

of the emirates of Ajman and Umm Al Quwain’s

550 000 inhabitants into RDF, which will partially

replace the gas and coal used in the region’s cement

plants.

Implementation of this project will divert around

90% of household waste from landfill sites.

In practice, this means processing 1000 t of

household waste every day by shredding it with the

unique TYRANNOSAURUS shredders, and then

automatically sorting out the recyclable materials and

non-combustible inert items. As a result, high quality

low-carbon fuel is produced for delivery to cement

plants.
