Introduction

The Ste. Genevieve cement plant in Bloomsdale,

Missouri, is the largest cement-producing facility

in North America, and is among the safest and

most environmentally efficient facilities of its kind.

Construction of this greenfield plant began in 4Q06;

production starting on 4 July 2009. It has the largest

single-kiln line in the Americas with the capacity to

produce 4.5 million tpy of cement.

Located in the heart of the Midwest US,

Ste. Genevieve was selected as an ideal plant location

based on abundant limestone reserves, along with the

opportunity for LafargeHolcim to construct its own port

facilities on the Mississippi River. There is more than

100 years of limestone supply on this 4000 acre site,

with 2000 acres set aside as a conservation area.
